LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given an ultimatum of 15 days for Careem and Uber to get registered.
Punjab government spokesperson clarified that the companies would continue to operate their services in the meantime.
He said, “There is no ban on these services in the province. The companies will just need to follow the rules.”
He added that the Punjab Transport Department will be in contact with both Uber and Careem to fulfill legal requirements with regards to their registration.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Excise Department has summoned the records of both the companies. Provincial Minister Zaeem Qadri said that all mobile-app taxi providers have been asked to comply with the laws.
