SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Thursday condemned the spree of arrests and house detentions, detailing the frustration of authorities.
Yasin expressed concern over the growing incidents of bullet and pellet firing on peaceful protestors. In an issued press release, he said that the killing and blinding of people was continuing without any pause.
The JKLF chief said that recent killings of civilians, and incidents such as the driver who was ruthlessly tortured by troops were glaring examples of the absurdness of Indian democracy in occupied Kashmir. He said that the only purpose of their stance was to provide a legal cover to all the criminal acts of the army, police and paramilitary personnel.
Expressing heartfelt grief over the demise of Nazima, whose brother Humair Yaseen is in jail under the questionable Public Safety Act (PSA) from October 2016, he said that the she had fallen ill the day her brother had been arrested by police.
The heavy-handedness and tyranny of the Modi regime was such that her brother was not even allowed to participate in her funeral, he added.
He said tyranny, oppression, suppression, arrests and restrictions could not break the will of Kashmiris who were determined to continue their struggle for freedom from Indian illegal occupation and were rendering unparalleled sacrifices for this sacred cause.
