ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the review petitions, filed by Sharif family and Jehangir Tareen, against SC judgment over stopping Sharif family sugar mills from crushing operations.
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, took up the case for hearing on Monday. During the hearing, Sharif Family took the plea that work had been halted on these sugar mills after SC’s judgment.
The Shairfs said that the country might face a shortage of sugar due to this decision. Therefore court should review its decision, taking into consideration the matter’s sensitive nature.
The court remarked that the respective case had begun in Lahore High Court, so the high court should be left to decide on the issue.
The court has rejected the review petitions of both Jehangir Tareen and Sharif family after hearing the two parties.
